COAST GUARD STATION TILLAMOOK BAY'S 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
MEDIA INVITE

WHO:  All media.

WHAT:  Invited to attend Tillamook Bay's 100 year anniversary.  The day's events are scheduled to include: 

  • Tours of the boats and station
  • Tours of an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter 
  • Tours of local fire department and EMS vehicles
  • A search and rescue demonstration at 1 p.m.

    A historical display will be shown at the upper station galley including:
  • Pictures 
  • Movies
  • The station's scrap book

    Coast Guard Auxiliary will be providing food and refreshments.

WHEN:  The festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. March 7th and will continue until 3 p.m. with the search and rescue demonstration occurring at 1 p.m.

WHY:  The 100 year anniversary.  In 1908 Station Tillamook Bay (CG Station #325) was opened on the north side entrance of Tillamook Bay, five miles northeast of Cape Meares Light. It was originally called Barview Life Saving Station, and operated 30-foot rowboats.
