SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Some Lane Electric Cooperative customers will be without power overnight Saturday, Dec. 16, so that the Bonneville Power Administration can perform necessary maintenance work on one of its transmission lines. The maintenance work will improve the reliability of the local transmission system.
Thirty-nine miles of BPA’s Cougar-Thurston 115-kilovolt line will be out of service from midnight Saturday, Dec. 16, until approximately 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17. The line follows Hwy. 126 from the vicinity of Blue River, Ore., and the Cougar Reservoir west to the Springfield, Ore., area.
Lane Electric Cooperative customers who are served out of the Blue River Substation will be affected by the outage. Lane Electric Cooperative already has notified those customers of the planned outage.
BPA and Lane Electric cooperatively selected the date and time of the outage to allow Lane Electric adequate time to notify its customers and to minimize the impact of the outage on affected residents and businesses.
BPA is a not-for-profit federal agency that markets about 40 percent of the electricity consumed in the Pacific Northwest. The power is produced at 31 federal dams in the Northwest and one nuclear plant and is sold to more than 140 Northwest utilities. BPA owns and operates approximately 75 percent of the high-voltage transmission grid in the Pacific Northwest.
