Center for Economic Vitality Announces New Hire, Promotions

BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics’ Center for Economic Vitality (CEV) has added Nicole Hagerman to its staff of research analysts and has promoted Jennifer Hill and Jenny Kern to senior research analysts.
Hagerman recently graduated with a master’s degree in Business Administration from Western Washington University, where she received a bachelor's degree in History with an emphasis in African American Studies. She has worked as a campaign manager for Rep. Kelli Linville and an event planner for the Downtown Renaissance Network. For the past year, Hagerman worked as a graduate assistant in research services at the Center for Economic Vitality.
Hill received her bachelor's degree in Political Science from Nebraska Wesleyan University, then spent seven years working as a small business owner and then a manager for a national retail store, giving her a background in operations, finance and human resources. In 2004, she received her master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University. She has worked as a researcher and analyst in Africa and the United States, and joined the CEV in 2007.
Kern received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Washington University in 2007. She spent several years in the tourism industry in Juneau, Alaska and has a strong background in project management, business analysis and marketing. Kern has been with the Center for Economic Vitality since 2008.
For more than 20 years, the Center for Economic Vitality (CEV), formerly the Small Business Development Center, has enabled Western Washington University's College of Business and Economics to give back to the business community and has helped to shape the economic future of Whatcom County one business at a time. The CEV provides free, confidential counseling and technical assistance combined with business intelligence research to business owners and managers throughout Whatcom County.
