The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will present the works of Western Washington University Department of Art faculty in the areas of studio, design, and art history.  The selection of works explores contemporary attitudes and individual areas of research in conjunction with traditional and new media.

In conjunction with the exhibition, two free lectures will be offered. The first, titled "Sub-divisions: Immigration, Identity and Mexico, Fulbright Recollections," will be offered by Garth Amundson at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the Western Gallery. The second lecture, to be held at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 5, will be by Cynthia Camlin, a new faculty member in the Art Department, who will discuss her work in the exhibition. That lecture also will be held in the Western Gallery.

The Western Gallery offers Western Washington University and the community diverse experiences in the visual arts, while providing a point of reference to the national and international art scene. It creates an environment for learning through historical, contemporary and experimental art exhibitions; through the outdoor collection of contemporary culture; through publications and through interpretative interdisciplinary programs.  In addition, the Western Gallery serves as a center for discussion and exchange of ideas on critical issues in contemporary art and plays a large role in expanding audience's awareness of the visual arts.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except Wednesdays when the gallery is open until 8 p.m., and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.  For more event details please call (360) 650-3900 or visit http://westerngallery.wwu.edu/.
