BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University's College of Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) 2008-2009 "Season of the Arts" lineup will include the 40th Anniversary Tour of Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and the energetic contemporary string quartet, ETHEL.
The CFPA Season of the Arts consists of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) Series, the Sanford Series, Western Gallery exhibitions and various events sponsored in the art, dance, music, and theatre arts disciplines.
The 2008-2009 PAC Series and Sanford Piano Series will showcase five innovative, critically acclaimed artists beginning in October and running through April 2009. This season will mark the fourth annual Education Matinee Series, which allows students in grades K-12 to attend free professional matinees on the WWU campus featuring PAC Series artists and the CFPA disciplines.
"For the first time in three years we will present Dance as part of the PAC Series," said Courtney Hiatt, PAC Series manager. "The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company will stop in Bellingham on their 40th anniversary tour, their first U.S. tour since 1995.
"In addition, we are very pleased to have the ground-breaking string quartet, ETHEL - described as having the energy of a raucous bar band. Their amplified sound and original compositions delivers chamber music in a fresh way, which will appeal to both new and long-time chamber music fans," Hiatt said.
