The Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that the following roads will have traffic limitations during the week of August 23-27 to accommodate construction and repair.
Ohio/ King/ State streets
Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will begin work on safety improvements along Ohio Street between State and King Streets. Work to be performed during the week of August 23rd will include building demolition, asphalt removal, and storm drainage installation. Flaggers will direct traffic through lane closures in the construction zone as needed. Alternative routes are recommended. Flynn Street
HB Hansen Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will continue stormwater improvements along Flynn Street from Electric to Lakeside Avenues. Work this week will include native plant restoration. Flaggers will direct traffic through lane closures in the construction zone as needed. Meridian Street, N. Forest, 11th Street, Kellogg Road, Lottie Street
Traffic on these arterials will be reduced to a single lane at times while Granite Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, installs new pavement markings and completes roadside restoration. This is the final phase for the resurfacing of these arterials. Flaggers will direct traffic through lane closures and/or detours in construction zones. Drivers are requested to use caution and avoid the areas if possible. Grand Avenue
The final resurfacing on Grand Avenue between Girard Street and W. Champion Street will take place between the hours of 6am to 3pm. This is part of the 2010 resurfacing program where Granite Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham has been paving arterial streets this summer. A detour route will be in place. Drivers are requested to use caution and avoid the area if possible. 12th Street
RAM Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, continues work along 12th Street from McKenzie Avenue south to the bridge over Padden Creek. Work this week includes night work as City crews connect the new water main to the existing system. There will be temporary loss of water service during these times. Flaggers will direct traffic through the construction zone. Drivers can expect delays along 12th Street and are requested to use caution. Bill McDonald Parkway and 25th Street
Traffic will be limited to one lane on Bill McDonald Parkway as crews install pavement markings and complete roadside restoration for a new traffic signal at 25th Street. Motorists can expect delays while flaggers direct traffic through an alternating, single lane. Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and avoid the area if possible. Oceanside Construction Inc. under contract with the City of Bellingham, is installing the new signal improving safety for pedestrians, motorists, bicyclists, and transit.
