The Bellingham City Council is pleased to announce that Michael Lilliquist, Bellingham City Council Member representing the 6th Ward, recently was appointed to the Association of Washington Cities’ (AWC) Legislative Committee to help craft the AWC’s efforts in Olympia.
The AWC Legislative Committee, made up of city officials from around the state, is charged with recommending specific legislative proposals for the 2011 and 2012 Washington State legislative sessions. Most of the work of the Legislative Committee is completed in subcommittees. Lilliquist has been appointed to the Land Use and Environmental Stewardship Subcommittee, which begins work with its first meeting this Friday. He will serve a two-year term.
Founded in 1933, the AWC is a private, non-profit, non-partisan corporation that represents Washington's cities and towns before the state legislature, the state executive branch and with regulatory agencies.
