Valentine's day stabbing suspect sought

Posted: February 24, 2010 8:17:32 AM PST

The Bellingham Police Department is asking for you help in identifying a stabbing suspect.  On February 14 at around 12:30 p.m, a 60 year old man reported being stabbed while at the Public Market at 1522 Cornwall.

The victim told officers that he rode his bike from his home in the county to church on Cornwall.  After attending the service, the victim rode to the Public Market for a cup of coffee and Valentine's Day card.  After locking up his bike, the victim saw a man standing nearby and offered him a cigarette. After a brief non-confrontational conversation, the man struck the victim on the back and walked away.

The victim reported that he did not feel well so he decided to ride his bike home.  Once he arrived home, he realized he had been stabbed.  The victim was transported to the Hospital by a private vehicle for treatment of the non-life threatening wound.

The suspect is described as a white male about 50 years old.  He is believed to be 6’01” with a slender build and short black or dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark gray or blue stocking cap, parka style jacket, denim pants and brown lace up boots.

If you have any information about this case or believe you know the suspect, please contact Bellingham Police Detective Dale Jones at (36)778-8823.
