Repairs are nearly complete and water service will be restored by 4 p.m. to 32 homes affected by the water main break this morning in the Samish neighborhood. The Street, Stormwater and Water divisions of Public Works worked together for a speedy response to the late morning rupture of a 6-inch cast iron water main pipe. A 25-foot long section of pipe was replaced along Samish Way.
Superintendent Bob Bandarra said, “The site looks great. You would not know we had a break.” Crews will continue to flush air and water until 5 p.m. this afternoon. Traffic has returned to normal as the remaining crews work along the shoulder.
Bandarra suggests customers who experience air or discolored water are advised to run only cold water into the bathtub to clear pipes and avoid any contamination of hot water tanks.
