City of Bellingham officials are accepting applications for people to serve on a newly formed Capital Facilities Task Force. This limited-duration advisory committee is expected to help shape the future of Bellingham by taking a long-range, strategic look at City capital facilities needs and issues and provide recommendations on policy choices and investment priorities.
Members of the Capital Facilities Task Force will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike said he is looking for commission members with a range of perspectives and expertise including banking/finance, human services, transportation and community development. Priorities for the new commission will include analyzing and making recommendations on City capital spending priorities, appropriate funding mechanisms to accomplish the prioritized projects, and City debt capacity.
The deadline to apply for a position on the task force is 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7. Applicants must be residents of the City of Bellingham, or own or operate a business within City limits, for at least two years to be considered for appointment.
