Three arrested in residential burglary

 Bellingham Police officers were called to a home in the 2700 block of Eldridge Avenue late Tuesday night after a home owner discovered an intruder in his house.  It is believed that the intruder entered through an unlocked door. 

 After being discovered, the intruder and two alleged accomplices waiting outside ran away.  Within four minutes after receiving the 9-1-1 call, a Police Sergeant located two of the suspects at Maryland and Nome Street.  One of the suspects had a backpack with a laptop computer and camera from the victim’s home. 

A third suspect was located hiding in some blackberry bushes down a ravine just west of Bellingham Technical College, a K-9 track lead to his location. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident. 

David Maier, age 19, was booked into Whatcom County Jail for residential burglary, theft 2nd and being a minor in possession of alcohol. Christopher Wade, age 20, was booked for a residential burglary, theft 2nd possession of a controlled substance, making false and misleading statements and being a minor in possession of alcohol. Steven A. Chapman, age 20, was booked for residential burglary, theft 2nd, making false and misleading statements, possession of a dangerous weapon (knuckle knife) and being a minor in possession of alcohol. 

All three men are Bellingham residents and remain in custody at this time.
