Several crews of Bellingham Firefighters remain on the scene as of noon today mopping up hot spots remaining from this morning's devestating fire at Whatcom Middle School. The fire, which was reported shortly after 1 a.m., engulfed the entire roof of the primary building and caused heavy damage to the third floor. No injuries related to the fire have been reported.
With the fire out, efforts to determine the origin of the cause of the fire have begun. A team from the Bellingham Fire and Police Departments will conduct the investigation and will release their findings in a follow-up news release.
