Bellingham police citizen's academy is back

Posted: November 5, 2009 1:04:40 PM PST

The Bellingham Police Department’s Citizen Academy is back after a two year pause.  If you have ever wondered how police officers are sent to calls, how a drug dog is able to find drugs or perhaps what the SWAT team does, the 2010 Citizen’s Academy is for you.

The Academy is a free 12 week class offered to anyone 18 years and older who either works or lives in the city limits of Bellingham. Participants must be willing to commit to attending all 12 classes and pass a background check before being considered. The classes will be held once a week starting Tuesday January 26th ending  Tuesday April 13th.  Applications are available at our website at www.cob.org/police. Completed applications must be mailed to Officer Katrin Dearborn at the  Bellingham Police Department 505 Grand Ave, Bellingham WA 98225 or simply dropped off at police reception.

Applications must be received no later than November 30th. Class size is limited so act now.

For more information concerning this, please contact Officer Katrin Dearborn at (360)778-8660 or email at Kdearborn@cob.org.
