City of Bellingham network and telephone services have been restored after an outage of more than an hour, affecting most City electronic communications.
Bellingham Fire Chief Bill Boyd said the service outage was traced to a power failure at the Fiber Cloud Data Center, where many City electronic communications services are housed. The H1N1 flu vaccine registration call center, which is located at City of Bellingham facilities, could not operate during the outage. Other local government and business communications also were affected by the power outage.
Boyd said emergency communications handled by 9-1-1 dispatch was not affected by the power failure. Most other systems, such as City email and telephone systems, were down from approximately 12:55 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
All City primary communications services appear to be fully restored at this time, Boyd said, and the H1N1 vaccine registration call center is now operating.
