City seeking nominations for Mayor's Arts Awards

Posted: October 14, 2009 11:04:14 PST

The Bellingham Arts Commission is accepting nominations for the 31st Annual Mayor's Arts Awards through Dec. 31, 2009.

The Bellingham Arts Commission accepts nominations throughout the year for Mayor's Arts Awards to honor Bellingham citizens who have significantly contributed to the arts in our community.  Accomplishments by individual artists, businesses, benefactors, organizations, arts educators, arts supporters, civic improvement leaders or notable events or achievements are all possible areas for Mayor's Arts Awards.

"The arts are essential to the fabric of Bellingham and an important component of our tourism and economic development efforts.  Acknowledging accomplishments of local artists is a great way to support their efforts and boost the arts in our community." Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike said.

The nomination form for the Mayor's Arts Award and a list of previous recipients is available on the City website at http://www.cob.org/services/arts/mayor-award.aspx . The date for the annual awards ceremony will be announced early in 2010.
