Two teenage boys were victims of an apparent gang related assault late Wednesday evening. The assault took place in the 4000 block of Eliza Ave. The victims were outside of a home at this location when a vehicle with rival gang members drove up and confronted them.
During the assault, one 16 year old teenage boy received a stab wound to his abdomen requiring emergency medical treatment. The other victim, a 15 year old teenage boy received injuries to the face and head and did not require emergency treatment. His injuries were allegedly caused by brass knuckles.
As the investigation progressed, two primary suspects were identified. One of the suspects was contacted and subsequently arrested by Everson Police and a Deputy from the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.
This subject has been identified as Miguel E. Alcarez. Alcarez, an 18 year old Everson man has been booked into the Whatcom County Jail for assault 2nd and possession of a dangerous weapon (brass knuckles).
On Thursday, Bellingham Police Detectives were able to identify a second suspect. That suspect learned that police were looking for him and made arrangements to turn himself in. The knife, allegedly used in the assault has been impounded as evidence.
Because the second suspect is a juvenile, his name has not been released. He was booked into Whatcom County Juvenile Detention for assault 1st.
