Vacancies on city boards, commissions, and committees offer Bellingham citizens opportunities to serve their community.
There are a number of vacancies on City Boards, Commissions, and Committees. Candidates must be current residents of the State of Washington, and have been so for at least three (3) years; must presently live within Bellingham City limits and have done so for at least two (2) years; be a registered voter and a U.S. Citizen. If anyone has an interest in serving, he or she should pick up an Application from the Mayor's office at City Hall, 210 Lottie Street, Second Floor, or print one off of the City's website at: http://www.cob.org/government/public/boards-commissions/index.aspx
Bellingham Arts Commission - There are three (3) vacancies on the commission. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the Mayor's Board Room.
Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission - There are three (3) vacancies on the commission. Meetings are held the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Mayor's Board Room.
Community Development Advisory Board - There is one (1) vacancy on the board for WWU Representative. Meets the second Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Mayor's Boardroom, Second Floor, City Hall.
Housing Authority Board – There is one (1) vacancy on the board. Meets the third Tuesday of the month at 3:00 p.m. in the Administrative Office at 208 Unity Street or in different locations around the county.
Mayor's Neighborhood Advisory Commission - There is one (1) vacancy on the Commission for a representative of the Whatcom Falls neighborhood. If you are interested in applying, please contact your neighborhood association. Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Mayor's Board Room, Second Floor, City Hall.
Museum Society Board - There are two (2) vacancies on the Board. Meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 12:00 p.m. at the Whatcom Museum's Board Room.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board – There are three (3) vacancies on the board. Meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 a.m. at the Bloedel Donovan Park Beach Pavilion.
Sehome Hill Arboretum Board – There are two (2) vacancies on the Board for an At-Large and student member position. The Board meets the third Thursday every other month (excluding June, July and August) at 4:00 p.m. at the WWU Physical Plant.
Sister Cities Advisory Board – There are three (3) vacancies on the Board. The Board is looking for persons with experience in Grant Writing, Program and Event Coordination, and/or an interest in Russia or Australia. Bellingham has five Sister Cities: Tateyama, Japan; Port Stephens, Australia; Punta Arenas, Chile; Nakhodka, Russia; and Cheongju, Korea. Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Mayor’s Board Room.
