The City of Bellingham today announced that applications for 2009 Small and Simple Grant projects are being accepted through Friday, February 13.  A total of $35,000 is available and awards will be announced by March 1.

Small and Simple project criteria and application materials have been revised for this year's funding cycle.  "Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative" funding is available for neighborhood associations to organize and lead partnerships that build community engagement through healthy activities, connect neighborhoods to school, business and non-profit partners, and plan for or make physical changes to neighborhood spaces.  Project awards in this category range from $1,000 - $2,500.

Small and Simple "Community Event Sponsorship" funding is available for businesses or non-profits to organize events or activities that demonstrate a citywide benefit and encourage community engagement.  Project awards in this category range from $1,000- $2,000.

Funding guidelines, application materials and project design assistance can be found on the City's website at http://www.cob.org/services/neighborhoods/resources/grants-funding.aspx
