The Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that the following roads will have traffic limitations during the week September 29 through October 3, 2008 to accommodate construction.
Northshore Drive
Interwest Construction, Inc., under a contract with the City of Bellingham, will be finishing minor paving, concrete work, shoulder restoration and lighting installation. Striping work may also be occurring on site. The project is expected to be completed on time, by the end of the day Tuesday September 30. Until that time, motorists may encounter brief delays. For more information about this project visit the city's website http://www.cob.org/documents/pw/curconst/ES-0367.pdf or contact Freeman Anthony at fanthony@cob.org or 778-7900.
Sunset Drive (SR542)
Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, continue construction on Sunset Drive from Woburn Street to McLeod Road. The project will add a two-way left-turn lane, travel lanes, bus pullouts, bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Between the hours of 7:00-8:30 am and 4:30-6:00 pm traffic may be disrupted as large trucks enter and exit the site. Between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 pm traffic may be limited to one-way flagged traffic.
This project is funded in partnership with WSDOT and the Transportation Improvement Board. For more information about this project visit the city's website www.cob.org/documents/pw/curconst/es-0236-sunset-improvements.pdf or contact Mark Handzlik at MHandzlik@cob.org or 778-7900.

Bay/Holly/Prospect
Tiger Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will be removing sidewalks, streetlights and excavating for new storm water pipes at the intersection of Bay Street, Holly Street and Prospect Street. Bay Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during most of the project, however, there will be pedestrian access to all businesses at all times. For more information regarding this project visit the city's website http://www.cob.org/documents/pw/curconst/bay-and-holly-improvements.pdf or contact Freeman Anthony at fanthony@cob.org or 778-7900.
The City of Bellingham Public Works Department provides this information as a public service. It is based on currently available information. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution and obey flaggers at all times. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts. Dates, times and work locations are subject to change due to inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules.
