Posted: August 22, 2008 09:24:07 PST

Traffic will be diverted by flaggers or detoured around the work between the hours of 7 am and 5 pm. Drivers may experience significant delays and are encouraged to use Barkley Boulevard as an alternate route until further notice. For more information about this project visit the city's website http://www.cob.org/documents/pw/curconst/ES-0367.pdf or contact Freeman Anthony at fanthony@cob.org or 778-7900.

Traffic may be disrupted as large trucks enter and exit the site. For more information about this project contact Freeman Anthony at fanthony@cob.org or 778-7900.

Bay/Holly/Prospect
Tiger Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will begin work at the intersection of Bay Street, Holly Street and Prospect Street. The project includes a plaza, seating, lighting, landscape and artwork. Along with the streetscape improvements, the water line on Bay Street will be replaced. Bay Street will be closed to vehicle traffic during most of the project, however, there will be pedestrian access to all businesses at all times. For more information regarding this project, please contact Engineering Manager Ravyn Whitewolf at rwhitewolf@cob.org, or 778-7900.

North Forest Street
Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, will be cleaning sewer mains on N. Forest Street, Rose Street to Ellis Street to prepare them for Insituform Technologies to install cured-in-place sanitary sewer lining. Drivers will be required to navigate around a box van at these locations and are advised to use extreme caution when yielding to oncoming cars. For more information regarding the sewer rehabilitation project, please contact Project Manager Mark Handzlik at 778-7900 or mhandzlik@cob.org.

The City of Bellingham Public Works Department provides this information as a public service. It is based on currently available information. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution and obey flaggers at all times. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of maintenance work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts. Dates, times and work locations are subject to change due to inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules.
