You are invited to help the City of Bellingham name one of its newest waterfront parks, through a process hosted by the City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The undeveloped park, currently referred to as Cornwall Beach Park, is part of the waterfront redevelopment area south of the Cornwall Avenue and Pine Street intersection near Wharf Street (site map)
Name suggestions may be submitted online or sent to the Parks and Recreation Department/Administration Office at 3424 Meridian Street, Bellingham, 98225.
City policy outlines the process for naming parks and recreation facilities. All park name suggestions will be forwarded to the City Parks & Recreation Advisory Board for consideration. The name selected by the Board will be forwarded to the Bellingham City Council for a final decision.
Park name suggestions will be accepted through Feb. 21, 2014. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will consider the names suggested at its March 12 meeting.
The Parks & Recreation Department also is preparing a master plan for the park, for consideration this year by the Bellingham Parks & Recreation Advisory Board and the Bellingham City Council. For more information about the future of this park, please visit the Cornwall Beach Park Master Plan page of the City's website.
