Bellingham Police Detectives have identified the suspect in the stabbing death of David Datskiy on Sunday, May 11th.
A warrant has been issued by the Whatcom County Superior Court for the arrest of Derek Cameron Collier, (click for photo). The warrant charges that Collier is wanted for murder in the 2nd degree in the homicide.
On May 11, 2008 Collier was believed to be the driver of a pearl-white 1998 Cadillac that stopped in the roadway in the 1500 block of James Street in Bellingham. Collier contacted Datskiy and without provocation stabbed Datskiy in the abdomen and immediately left the area in the Cadillac. A female with very short brown hair was observed as a passenger in the Cadillac with Collier.
Datskiy was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital by his passenger. Datskiy died shortly thereafter.
Derek Collier is described as a 23 year old white male, 5'10 in height, 160 lbs, bald, clean shaven and brown eyes.
Collier is believed to be driving a 1998 pearl white Cadillac De Ville 4 door,(click for photo) Washington license 477XIS.
Bellingham Police is asking that anyone observing Collier or know of his whereabouts to contact Detective Hutchings at (360) 778-8827 or Detective Jones at (360) 778-8823. After 5 p.m. please call 9-1-1.
