A bicyclist and Chevrolet Blazer collided early this morning on Barkley Boulevard and Sussex Drive.
The bicycle was traveling westbound on Barkley Boulevard. As the bicycle approached Sussex Drive, a brown Chevrolet Blazer pulled out from Sussex Drive to travel eastbound on Barkley. The bicycle collided into the drivers side of the Blazer.
Poor visibility may have contributed to the crash. The rising sun may have obstructed the vision of the motorist.
The bicycle rider was transported to to St. Joseph's Hospital E.D. with serious injuries. Early this afternoon it was reported that the bicyclist died as a result of those injuries.
The bicyclist has been identified as Terry R. Mathews. A 50 year old Bellingham man. He was reported to be on his way to work where he serves as a United States Postal worker.
The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer is a 17 year old female Bellingham resident. She was not injured in the crash.
