Road restrictions and closures June 24-28, 2013

The City of Bellingham wishes to inform the public that the following roads will have traffic limitations during the week of June 24-28, 2013, to accommodate construction and repair. 

Woburn Street from Lakeway to Alabama streets
Expect traffic delays, lane closures and possible detours along Woburn Street from Lakeway to Alabama streets. Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes. Colacurcio Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, is working to complete the paving project started last year. Crews will be grinding the pavement and installing traffic signal loops in preparation for new asphalt. Flaggers will direct traffic through lane closures and detours. Highland Drive, Garden to Taylor Streets and W. College Way from Highland Drive to Bill McDonald Parkway
Highland Drive from Garden to Taylor streets and W. College Way from Highland Drive to Bill McDonald Parkway will be intermittently reduced to one lane as crews prepare various sections for the annual street overlay program and sewer repair. Stremler Gravel is under contract with the City of Bellingham to complete the work. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed through the lane closures. W. Bakerview Road between Bennett and W. Maplewood avenues night work
Monday evenings to Friday mornings, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., travelers can expect eastbound lane closures on W. Bakerview Road from Bennett to W. Maplewood avenues as Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, continues work to improve arterial safety on the I-5 overpass. Flaggers will direct traffic through any delays and lane closures. Closure on W. Maplewood Road from McLeod to W. Bakerview roads
Northbound W. Maplewood Road from McLeod to W. Bakerview roads will be closed to through traffic with a detour in place. Southbound W. Maplewood Road from McLeod to W. Bakerview  roads will be open between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., however expect intermittent lane closures during work hours of Monday evenings to Friday mornings, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Ram Construction, under contract with the City of Bellingham, continues work to improve arterial safety on the I-5 overpass. Flaggers will direct traffic through any delays, detours and lane closures. Cornwall Avenue at Maple Street
Travelers can expect intermittent delays on Cornwall Avenue and Maple Street as construction continues on raingarden installation and related stormwater improvements. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed through lane closures. Harris and McKenzie avenues, 4th and 10th streets
Travelers can expect moderate truck traffic on Harris and McKenzie avenues as well as 4th and 10th streets in Fairhaven up to Interstate 5 as construction concrete work continues associated with the Post Point Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements project. The City of Bellingham Public Works Department provides this information as a public service. It is based on currently available information. Motorists are reminded that weather and road conditions can change rapidly and should plan accordingly. When traveling through a construction area, drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians are asked to be patient, proceed with caution and obey flaggers at all times. Planned road closures and restrictions are necessary to allow for a variety of work including resurfacing, sidewalk construction, water and sewer main work, and utility cuts. Dates, times and work locations are subject to change due to inclement weather or last-minute changes in work schedules.
