The Banana Slug String Band, dedicated to fostering positive attitudes about the environment through musical entertainment, will lead the community in a song-filled celebration of the Lake Whatcom Watershed. These lovable musicians and educators from the coastal redwoods of Northern California are "Airy" Larry Graff, Doug "Dirt" Greenfield," and "Marine" Mark Nolan. Employing vocals, guitar, mandolin, bass, harmonica, banjo and percussion, the Slugs' songs range from rockin' boogies to sensitive ballads, from folk songs to reggae and rap. Music, theater, puppetry and audience participation create a fun-filled learning experience.
The Banana Slug String Band is hosted by the City of Bellingham Public Works Department as part of the city's ongoing efforts to provide information about watersheds and promote watershed stewardship.
