..Avalanche Warning for Sunday and Monday...

Substantial warming...increasingly strong winds and periods of heavy rain or snow Sunday into Monday are expected in the northern Cascades and Olympics. This should load and stress the relatively large amounts of recent snowfall received at low freezing levels...and cause a substantial increase in the avalanche danger.High danger should spread to most steep avalanche terrain by Sunday Afternoon, with both human and naturally triggered slides increasingly likely. While less significant and less sustained precipitation is expected in the southern and central Cascades and along the cascade east slopes...a significant increase in the danger Is anticipated here as well.

As a result back country travel is not recommended near avalanche terrain on Sunday in the northern Cascades and Olympics...with back country travelers are urged to modify their routes...goals and expectations in all areas due to the increased risk of avalanches.

This statement will be updated as conditions warrant. Please visit www.nwac.us for details.

Backcountry travelers should be aware that elevation and geographic distinctions are approximate and that a transition zone between dangers exists.  Remember there are avalanche safe areas in the mountains during all levels of avalanche danger.Contact local authorities in your area of interest for further
Information.
