Flood Watch for the Nooksack River in Whatcom County

.Periods of heavy rain over the Olympic mountains and north Cascades could drive rivers in those areas above flood stage by later today or tonight.
River models now indicate the Chehalis river could flood. The Flood watch area has been expanded to include Lewis and Thurston Counties...through which the Chehalis river runs.
A flood warning is already in effect for the Skokomish river...which is experiencing major flooding. Flood warnings are also in effect for the Satsop and Bogachiel rivers. other rivers on the Olympic peninsula also face a threat of flooding...including the Elwah and Dungeness rivers.
Flooding in the north cascades river basins is also a possibility. The Nooksack river in Whatcom county...which flows off the slopes of Mount Baker...is at highest risk. rainfall amounts could be high enough to also push the Skagit river in Skagit county and the Stillaguamish river in Snohomish county to near flood stage as well.
Rainfall will be heavy at times over the Olympics and north Cascades this morning. After a lull in precipitation this Afternoon...another period of heavy rain is possible tonight into early Tuesday morning.
Flooding is not a concern on the green river in king county at This time.

* Heavy rain in the Olympics through tonight could drive rivers above flood stage. The Skokomish river in Mason County is already under a flood warning...and major flooding is possible. other Olympic peninsula rivers like the Satsop... Bogachiel...Elwha...and Dungeness rivers could also flood.
* the Nooksack river in Whatcom county cloud also flood. If flooding does develop on the Nooksack river it would most likely occur tonight or Tuesday.
