Stormwater Management Program Open House

As a part of Whatcom County’s National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit (NPDES) Phase 2 Stormwater Management Program, Whatcom County Public Works Stormwater Division will be hosting an Open House Meeting. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Civic Center Building Conference Room located at 322 N. Commercial St. in Bellingham.

The discussion will focus on State and Federal mandates that require Whatcom County to make amendments to our Zoning Code, and establish a permanent Ordinance that prohibits illicit and illegal discharges to the Whatcom County’s drainage system. These changes are required so Whatcom County can comply with the requirements of the NPDES Phase 2 Municipal Stormwater Permit.

Whatcom County Public Works staff members will have a presentation outlining the required amendments to the Zoning Code and the proposed Ordinance. The public may also submit any written questions and comments regarding the proposed changes. The comments will be addressed by County Staff before the final recommendations are submitted to the Whatcom County Council.
