Upcoming H1N1 Vaccination Clinics Announced for Priority Groups
BELLINGHAM, WA—The Whatcom 2009 H1N1 (Swine Flu) Pandemic Unified Command (City of Bellingham, Whatcom County, Peace Health/St Joseph Hospital) announced additional H1N1 mass vaccination clinics. These clinics will be provided in Ferndale, Lynden, Deming, and Bellingham per the schedule below and are only open to high priority groups. By mid-to-late November it is anticipated that there will be enough vaccine for anyone requesting the H1N1 vaccine.
Please do not call the school sites for clinic information. If you need additional vaccine information, check the Whatcom County Health Department website at www.whatcomcounty.us/health/h1n1 or call the Pandemic Influenza Call Center phone line at 778-8170.
Health officials anticipate that they will vaccinate 1,000 individuals at each of the clinics listed below. More clinics will be scheduled in the following weeks as vaccine becomes available.
• Thursday October 22, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at St. Lukes Community Health Education Center 3333 Squalicum Parkway Bellingham, WA 98225.
• Monday, October 26, 3:30 PM—7:30 PM in the Common’s (cafeteria) area at Ferndale High School, 5830 Golden Eagle Drive in Ferndale
• Tuesday, October 27, 3:00 PM—7:30 PM in the Common’s (cafeteria) area at Lynden High School, 1201 Bradley Road in Lynden
• Thursday, October 29, 3:30 PM—7:30 PM in the cafeteria at Mt. Baker High School, 4936 Deming Road in Deming
• Wednesday, November 4, 4:00 PM—8:00 PM in the cafeteria at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Avenue in Bellingham
Individuals who plan on attending should bring their insurance cards as an administrative fee may be billed to insurance providers. There will be no out-of-pocket expenses. Individuals who do not have insurance will not have to pay and there will be no co-pays.
The clinic is only for eligible high priority groups as listed below.
- Health Care Providers with direct patient care
- Emergency Medical Personnel
- Pregnant Women
- People who live with or care for children under 6 months of age, as children under 6 months of age cannot be vaccinated
- Everyone from 6 months to 24 years of age
- Those 25-64 years of age with high risk medical conditions that place them at high risk for complications from flu
Both nasal spray and injectable forms of vaccine, including limited amounts of thimerosol-free for pregnant women and young children, should be available for these clinics. If you plan on attending, please check the Whatcom Pandemic Joint Information Center web site at www.em.whatcomcounty.org to assure that the clinic has not been cancelled due to a vaccine shipment delay.
