Whatcom County Roads with Closures / Traffic Limitations




The Whatcom County Public Works Department wishes to inform the public that the following roads will have Closures or Traffic Limitations during the week of October 5th through October 9th, to accommodate construction activities. Please see the detailed information listed below.

Closures:
Hampton Rd/Mormon Ditch (Kamm Creek) just south of Lynden
This bridge replacement project will include road improvements from Front Street down Hampton Road for approximately 800 feet. The new bridge will be 145ft long with 12ft driving lanes, 6ft shoulders and 6ft sidewalks on both sides.The bridge closure is for Bridge Closure is from April 29th through October 31st, 2009. l A signed detour route is in effect.All vehicles including emergency. Hampton Road is closed, except to local and emergency traffic, between Northwood Road and Kamm Creek.

Mosquito Lake Rd/Middle Fork Bridge about 5.5 south of Mt Baker Hwy (SR542)
This bridge rehabilitation project will include replacement of the approach spans, removal and replacement of the existing decking, new guardrails, replacement of many structural steel members, repainting of the bridge and scour protection installed in the river.The bridge closure is for Bridge Closure is from Monday, June 22nd for approx. 8-10 months  A signed detour route is in effect.All vehicles including emergency.

Hannegan Rd/Scott Ditch Bridge
about 1.0 mile south of Lynden
This bridge replacement project will include removal of the existing overload restricted bridge and installation of a single span bridge suitable for the heavy truck traffic of Hannegan Rd. The bridge closure is for Bridge Closure is from August 24th for approx. 10 weeks all  A signed detour route will be in effect via Abbott, Thiel & VanDyk Roads. vehicles including emergency.

Traffic Limitations:
