Lummi Island Ferry to Return to Service



The Lummi Island Ferry,The Whatcom Chief,is scheduled to return to service on Wednesday,September,30,2009 at approximately 3:00pm. This scheduled return to service date is contingent upon successful completion of sea trials Monday,September 28,2009 and the annual USCG inspection Tuesday September,29,2009.

On Wednesday,September 30,2009 the contracted passenger-only-ferry will run from 5:40am until it makes it’s last run at 9:50am. The ferry service will then discontinue while the dock modifications abd floats required for the contracted passenger –only ferry are dismantled and removed. We anticipate the first run with the Whatcom Chief to be approximately the 3:00pm run on Wednesday,September 30,2009.

The passenger shuttle van service will make all of it’s scheduled runs on Wednesday,September 30,2009.
There will be no shuttle can service on Thursday,October 1,2009 and thereafter.

All cars need to be removed from the supplemental dry dock parking areas on Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island by the end of the day Monday, October 5,2009 or will be towed at owners expense.No exceptions.
