Crews will switch traffic to new pavement on SR 539 north of Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - Drivers who regularly use SR 539 (Guide Meridian) north of Laurel Road will notice a smoother ride Tuesday, April 14.

Crews are almost finished paving the base layer of asphalt on the new lanes between Ten Mile and just north of King Tut roads. Weather permitting, we will stripe and switch traffic to these new lanes on Tuesday. Drivers should notice only minor delays as crews make the switch.

This switch means drivers will use what will become the new southbound lanes. Drivers have been using the existing lanes, which will become the new northbound lanes once the widened roadway is complete.

This traffic switch will allow crews to complete the new Ten Mile Road roundabout and upgrade and repave the existing road.
