No Danger From Natural Gas

Late this morning an Incident occurred in Canada,just  north of Sumas involving the main natural gas pipeline into Vancouver B.C. causing the release
of natural gas.  The winds are blowing the odor of natural gas southwest into Whatcom County.  There is no danger or risk of health problems or explosion at this time,
Please do not call 911, our Canadian partners are working to fix this problem.

What residents are smelling is the odor-ant in the natural gas called Mercaptan. The Whatcom County Sheriffs Office Division of Emergency Management and City of Bellingham Office of Emergency Management are aware of the incident.
