| TRAFFIC ALERT #09-006 |
|
As the new fall semester begins at the University of Houston, traffic is expected to be heavy surrounding the campus, and parking will be in higher demand. To help mitigate some of the confusion this can cause, the University of Houston Department of Public Safety (UHDPS) will be using a couple of tools to provide traffic reports and parking availability updates to the University community during peak hours. UHDPS has posted a map that will show up-to-date lot capacity and traffic problems - http://www.uh.edu/police/UHlotmap.html. The site has been simply designed for easier access via mobile browsers. UHDPS has also created a Twitter account that will send updates on lot and traffic issues – http://twitter.com/UH_Traffic. You can either follow the UH_Traffic with your own Twitter account and recieve updates, or simply check the site when you need current conditions. These resources should not be used while operating a motor vehicle. Please report any traffic problems near the University of Houston campus to UHDPS dispatch at 713-743-3333. UHDPS police officers will be working traffic control positions to help alleviate congestion during peak traffic hours.
