METRO’S PATHWAY TO RAIL

Progress is in motion.

In a couple of years, you will have more options to move about the city, but getting those options and finding the Pathway to Rail has not been easy.

In its latest documentary – Pathway to Rail – the agency focuses on the many hurdles it had to overcome, before and after the 2003 METRO Solutions referendum passed, to bring more light rail to Houston.

The documentary discusses the journey before the referendum, one which entailed a great deal of community outreach.  Educating the public on the benefits of a major infrastructure project like this was crucial in generating the support needed to pass the referendum.

Delivering what the voters approved in the 2003 will be just as challenging. METRO has already made historic strides with the groundbreaking of the North and Southeast lines earlier this month. And, it will continue to work diligently to achieve this ambitious goal, and improve and update the city’s transportation system to better connect communities.

Learn more about METRO’s Pathway to Rail by tuning in tonight at 6 p.m on Comcast’s HCCTV Channel 19.

The show will air Monday through Friday, July 27 – July 31. The documentary will also be posted on METRO’s Web site at www.ridemetro.org on Tuesday, July 28.
