Outreach tools and programs have been developed to further
METRO's commitment to Houston's regional community.
METRO has developed and implemented an educational safety program, called the Community School Safety Education Program (CSSEP), to help increase safety awareness for you and your family throughout the light-rail construction process. At METRO, your safety is our number one priority!
Building on the success of the art installations on the Main Street Light Rail Line, the METRO Solutions Arts in Transit Program will provide transit passengers and the surrounding neighborhoods with a rich variety of artwork.
The Communities in Motion program is the METRO Solutions approach to addressing community issues and concerns surrounding the development of light-rail transit in Houston.
A division of Communities in Motion, the Youth Mobility Advisory Council (YMAC) is under development to provide a partnership between METRO, area schools, and community-based organizations to create unique learning opportunities, internships, and distinguished honors programs for the youth of Houston.
METRO is committed to mitigating the impact of construction. The Business Assistanec program will consist of several components to help adjacent businesses as construction of the light-rail transit expansion proceeds in your community.
The Small/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (SB/DBE) Program was created to provide additional opportunities for local Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to participate in contracting and procurement opportunities within METRO. METRO has an annual goal of 35% Small Business participation in all areas of procurement. All small business owners that are eligible for certification are encouraged to bid on METRO procurement opportunities.
