Katy Freeway HOV lane closing in September 2008

Because of weather, the Texas Department of Transportation is delaying the closing of the Katy HOV lane to the first week of September 2008. The closure, originally set for August 25, 2008, is necessary for final construction activities on the Katy Freeway.

The Managed Lanes will be operated by the Harris County Toll Road Authority, which will be announcing plans for the opening of the lanes in the near future.

TxDOT is allowing METRO to continue to operate buses in a closed lane through the construction area. For safety reasons carpools and vanpools will not be allowed in the lane.

We encourage you to ride METRO during the transition period.
