Arts in Transit Program

Building on the success of the art installations on the Main Street Light Rail line, the METRO Solutions Public Art Program will provide transit passengers and the surrounding neighborhoods with a rich variety of artwork. Works of art will be appropriately tailored to the character of each neighborhood, reflecting community image, culture, identity, and architectural heritage. Development of transit art will be based on a cooperative approach with the community, emphasizing public participation during the artist and project selection process.  For more information regarding the selection process, click here.

In 2006, forty artists were selected as finalists of the METRO Solutions Public Arts Program.  From this pool of exceptional talent,  19 artists have been selected to enhance stations in the North, East End and Southeast Corridors, as well as on the Intermodal Terminal. Selection took place between Feb. 26 and Mar. 2, 2007.

Formal artist proposals are currently on display at your local corridor office.  Art and artist selection for the University and Uptown Corridors will take place at a later date.
