- What will the transit amenities and station locations look like? Transit amenities and stations will be markedly different from your typical bus stops and shelters. Stations will be covered areas with elevated platforms to facilitate easy boarding on and off the LRT vehicles similar to the METRORail stations. Stations are also planned to have off-vehicle ticket vending machines and rider information displays. Architectural enhancements to the facilities would be implemented in partnership with the local community. Learn More >>
- Will there be LRT buses and the local 50 Harrisburg buses both running on Harrisburg? Adjustments in service will be made to reduce duplication of service, but connections to and from popular attractions within the community will be maintained. Learn More >>
- Will properties be affected by the construction and operation of the LRT? We understand the concern regarding impacts of the potential alignment such as noise, traffic, and air quality during and after construction. Any short-term construction-related impacts of this proposed project will be mitigated. Measures would be implemented to control dust, noise, and vibration and to maintain traffic flow and access. METRO would implement several measures, such as using watering trucks to minimize dust and covering trucks when transporting dirt and other materials. When construction gets under way on the chosen alignment, the air quality effects would be limited to short-term increased fugitive dust and mobile source emissions. However, efforts would be made by METRO to minimize the impacts as much as possible through methods such as possibly limiting the work hours to times outside of the peak period of travel. - What will METRO do to help mitigate impacts and assist businesses during construction? METRO recognizes that successful businesses along the alignment are necessary for successful ridership. Mitigation measures are not "one-size-fits-all" and their implementation depends on case-by-case evaluations. However, METRO is committed to implement creative solutions, such as:(more) Learn More >>
- Will the LRT take up traffic lanes in an already congested corridor? Depending on the preferred alignment and operating option chosen, it is possible that traffic lanes may be taken or shared in the LRT corridor to facilitate this transit improvement. More detailed traffic analysis will be conducted to determine traffic impacts and how to best design the LRT operations. All efforts will be taken to mitigate traffic impacts that may result from development of the LRT. Learn More >>
- How will the East End Corridor connect with the regional transit system? The East End Corridor will travel west from the Magnolia Transit Center and merge with the Southeast Corridor at some point in the vicinity of Dowling Street. Currently, the East End Corridor is also planned to be “interlined” with the proposed North Corridor. This would mean that a rider on the East End Corridor could travel from the Magnolia Transit Center through the proposed Intermodal Terminal to Northline Mall without needing a transfer. East End Corridor riders would also have the option of transferring at the proposed Intermodal Terminal to the current METRORail Main Street Red Line. Learn More >>
